Parents in all 50 states have the right to breastfeed in public and all breastfeeding employees are protected by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Some states provide additional protections.

Colorado is a breastfeeding-positive state, thanks to workplace lactation accommodation laws that exceed federal protections. Mamava gives CO a 2 out of 3 on our Breastfeeding State Scale.
Connecticut is a breastfeeding-positive state, thanks to workplace lactation accommodation legislation that exceeds federal protections. Mamava gives CT a 3 out of 3 on our Breastfeeding State Scale.
Florida supports breastfeeding in any public or private place. While there are no state-level workplace lactation accommodation laws, Florida law requires courthouses to provide lactation spaces. Mamava gives FL a 2 out of 3 on our Breastfeeding State Scale.
Georgia’s workplace lactation accommodation legislation is equal to federal protections. Mamava gives GA 1 out of 3 on our Breastfeeding State Scale.
Hawaii’s workplace lactation accommodation legislation is equal to, but does not exceed, the federal PUMP Act. Mamava gives HI a 1 out of 3 on our Breastfeeding State Scale.
